THE Cake

The family is in town, and it is always difficult to get a good work out in, so I took the day off. As you can see from the picture below, I took the day off to bake this delicacy: This is a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling, and peanut butter frosting, with chocolate ganache over top. MMM. I got several compliments, and my mother in-law's boyfriend even went back for thirds. He is definitely on my good list now :)
Do you ever watch Rachael Ray? I love her show, and she always talks about how she wishes someone would invent the "smell-o-vision." Well, I wish someone could invent the...ok... I can't think of a good way to blend the words 'taste' and 'computer,' but you get what I am saying right? If you enjoy peanut butter, this is SO the cake for you. My friend has the recipe posted on her site, here. But I found it in the Sky High Cakes book I received for my birthday. It is easy peasy, and I think I scored points with some family members as my sister in-law said I have to make it again. And she is the most honest of the bunch :)

Even though I didn't work out today I felt good about eating this cake for a number of reasons:
***
1. I ate carefully in my other meals today
2. It was a time to celebrate
3. I have been working hard at working out 5-6 days a week, and everyone needs an extra break sometimes!
4. Life is supposed to be enjoyed!!

Here is how my meals went for the rest of the day:

Baked oatmeal with 1/2 a granny smith apple on top
Indian food - vegetarian for lunch. I had a dosa and it was delicious! I wish I had a picture.
Breakfast burrito for dinner. But it was chocked FULL of veggies and only a couple of cubes of ham. I just bathed my burrito in mango salsa and it was fantastic. Plus I had some fresh fruit on the side.
*I did have a snack or two in there, I just can't remember. It was a really busy day.

I am planning on getting a good run in tomorrrow so I can eat another slice or two of the chocolate cake before it is all gone!

The weekend should be full of good food, good games, and a GREAT run tomorrow...

Have any weekend plans?

ps Our furnace is fixed! YAHOO! We have heat. My husband and his brother found a precious little something in our attic when they were installing the cooling fan. I will post a picture of that little treasure later... I can't put a picture of it on the same post as the cake!
